Ryan Miller

Coming up on our 7th year in business, Wildflower Studios has been actively looking to add more on staff photographers to the team. Ryan came to us with an exceptional resume filled with photography accomplishments and as a multi-award winning graphic designer.

Born in Southern California, Ryan was always involved in the arts. Influenced by his artistic grandparents, Ryan found a love for photography at a young age. He started shooting film with his grandfather’s Minolta SLR in the early 90’s. Photography became a gateway platform for creative release, and Ryan began experimenting with other mediums like paint and charcoal.

In 2007 he attended The Art Institute of San Diego for a degree in Graphic Design and minored in Digital Marketing. During his time in San Diego he worked for the San Diego Zoo as a wildlife and portrait photographer. Ryan moved home to Michigan to find serenity and a slower paced lifestyle. He began to accelerate in his design focused career path leaving photography for a while.

Ryan became a father of two boys, Dakotah and Kai, and found his way back to the industry. He started by documenting journalistic events for a local newspaper. Moving into the Grand Rapids music scene, Ryan was taking photos for bands like Badfish, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Stick Figure, Against Me, The Beach Boys and more. Being called upon for promotional portraits, set his mind on fire. He became hooked on portrait photography. Capturing anything from branded products, real estate, weddings, newborns, pets, boudoir and family portraits; Ryan was now fully devoted to this craft. Being from an athletic background and playing hockey in his childhood, Ryan knew working for a team would really open things up for his mind to wander and explore creatively.
